Consumer Advocacy & Administrative Hearings

Who I help
People navigating California or Nevada vocational rehabilitation.
Vocational rehabilitation (VR) helps eligible people with disabilities pursue education, training, and employment goals.
Get free education and training, plus practical employment support—see if you qualify.
What you could receive
- Understand the record
- A chronology, key documents, and questions that still need answers.
- Prepare a clear request
- Supporting facts, relevant rules, and the specific action you want.
- Get ready to participate
- Meeting or hearing preparation, with representation where permitted and authorized.
How it works
Agency decision
Identify the decision and any deadline.
Records review
Find the documents that explain what happened.
Evidence preparation
Connect relevant facts to reliable records.
Hearing preparation
Organize issues, exhibits, and questions.
Authorized representation
Confirm the rules and your appointment before representation.
I am not an attorney and do not represent clients in court. I offer nonattorney representation only where the proceeding’s rules allow it and you authorize me, including California Department of Rehabilitation fair hearings.

Who this helps
Prepare for an agency meeting or hearing with organized records, clear requests, and authorized nonattorney representation, including California Department of Rehabilitation fair hearings.
I help people navigating California or Nevada vocational rehabilitation—public services that help people with disabilities prepare for, find, keep, or advance in work.
Working together
- Tell me your goal, the state and agency involved, and any upcoming date. Leave sensitive records out of the initial inquiry.
- Request a free 15-minute initial consultation. We discuss fit, scope, pricing, free-help options, and any required appointment; a request is not a confirmed appointment.
- We review the records and prepare the agreed materials. You review documents before an authorized submission; a draft alone is not a filing.
Possible deliverables
- A chronology, evidence index, and clear account of the disputed decision.
- Research on the rules relevant to an authorized administrative proceeding, connected to the supporting records.
- Draft requests, agency correspondence, and questions for a meeting or review.
- Hearing preparation: issues, exhibits, witness questions, and a presentation outline.
- Nonattorney representation in an eligible proceeding after we confirm the appointment and scope.
- A tracker distinguishing the action requested, the decision made, and what has actually been carried out.
Problems I can help with
- An employment goal or individualized plan for employment—the written plan often called an IPE—that needs development, clarification, or amendment
- A disagreement about an assessment, education or training, tuition funding, reimbursement, or another requested service
- A delay, denial, or explanation that does not address your concern
- An administrative review, mediation, or fair hearing that requires organized facts and preparation
- A decision that has been issued but has not yet been fully carried out
Service limits
I provide nonattorney advocacy within the rules and appointment for the particular proceeding. Other agencies and court proceedings have different rules. I cannot guarantee a decision, payment, or deadline extension. AI Simple Solutions is independent, not a government agency or a Client Assistance Program.
About the example
This free example shows how to connect a problem, the relevant rules, supporting records, and a specific requested action. It also keeps a request, a decision, and actual implementation separate.
California: appointing a representative
California Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) fair-hearing rules permit an authorized representative or appropriate advocate. Once we agree on representation, the official DR 108 form lets you appoint me for mediation and/or the fair-hearing process.
DR 108 also permits DOR to release related information to your representative. Review it before signing and follow the hearing office’s submission instructions. It does not request a hearing, extend a deadline, or authorize court representation.
Nevada: a separate hearing rule
Nevada Administrative Code 615.135 permits an attorney or another designated person to represent a consumer at a vocational rehabilitation hearing. We confirm the appointment and agreed work for that process.
California’s DR 108 does not apply in Nevada. Other proceedings and court challenges have separate rules.
An assessment leaves questions unanswered
Illustrative example: a learner receives an assessment but cannot see how it supports the proposed employment plan. I organize the report and correspondence, identify the unanswered questions, and prepare a focused request for clarification or further assessment.
The deliverable is a clear packet of facts, questions, and requested action. A completed assessment still needs to address the relevant question adequately; the agency’s response and follow-through are separate steps.
Practical research and hearing experience
My experience includes legal research, exhibit organization, witness-question preparation, and administrative correspondence. In my own administrative matter, I worked alongside retained counsel; my public-records court work was self-represented. I have also provided separate consumer case support and completed formal paralegal studies.
Free help is also available
You can use the free guides and templates without hiring me. The Client Assistance Program helps people with vocational rehabilitation concerns; its services and availability depend on the program and your circumstances.
